Lincoln Quotes

Abraham Lincoln is probably the most quoted and quotable president in American history. And as is the case with all famous persons, Lincoln is sometimes credited with words he didn’t utter. Probably the most infamous example that can be found today is his reference to the internet: "The problem with quotes found on the internet is that they are often not true." For a variety of Lincoln quotes by topic and with the source of the original quote included, see the following page on the Lincoln Ledger.

Lincoln Day-by-Day

The Lincoln Log: A Daily Chronology of the Life of Abraham Lincoln incorporates Lincoln Day-by-Day: A Chronology, compiled by the Lincoln Sesquicentennial Commission with the cooperation and support of the Abraham Lincoln Association and published by the Government Printing Office in 1960. The text presented here includes all entries from that publication, with corrections and additions by the Papers of Abraham Lincoln, a project of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
