Alpha Lambda Zeta was founded on May 11, 1927 as the first social fraternity on Lincoln Memorial University's campus. The fraternity was derived from the Philomathean Literary Society. The Alpha ideal is a man who loves to learn, possesses high moral standards, knows and is willing to live his beliefs and values, expresses his individuality in a manor reflecting consideration of all points of view, loves others openly and recognizes the indwelling divinity in each he meets on life's oath, and is a leader, ready, willing, and able to leave his mark and make a significant contribution to his world.
