You qualify to receive Form 1098-T if you paid more than $600 in "qualified educational expenses" in the preceding tax year. Qualified expenses include tuition, any fees required for enrollment, and course materials required for a student to be enrolled at or attend an eligible educational institution.
If you want to access your 1098-T electronically, you can opt-in via MyLMU. Under the "Self-Service Menu," select "WebAdvisor for Students" and then "Student Tax Information." Once you opt-in to receive forms electronically, all future documents will be delivered electronically, and a hard copy will not be provided unless requested. After graduation, keeping your LMU account active will be critical to receiving your final 1098-T form. Once your account has been archived, you cannot view your electronic documents.
If you want to receive your 1098-T in paper form, it will be mailed to your address on file but cannot be emailed or faxed. You may also pick up your form at the DAR-Whitford Hall building located at the Harrogate Campus. You will be required to show your student or government-issued ID.
Your 1098-T will be mailed or uploaded no later than January 31st annually.
Your 1098-T form reports qualified charges based on the date they were applied to your student account. For example, if you pre-registered for the Spring semester in December 2022, those charges will be applied to your 2022 1098-T. Please note that there are times when tuition can be carried over to the following calendar year. Your 1098-T will only report payments of qualified tuition and fees.
The following are not qualified tuition and related expenses:
