The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) School of Business is launching a new challenge to test students’ business skills. On Friday, April 11, students will compete in the inaugural Business Student Case Study Competition, presenting real-world solutions to industry professionals.
The competition is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world business challenges, providing students with a platform to apply their knowledge, develop strategic solutions, and present their findings to a panel of industry professionals, faculty, and members of the School of Business’ advisory board.
“The Business Student Case Study Competition is an exciting new initiative that exemplifies our commitment to experiential learning," said Dr. Kelsey Metz, Dean of the LMU School of Business. "This competition challenges students to apply their business acumen to real-world scenarios, equipping them with critical problem-solving skills and industry insights.”
This year’s competition features business cases designed in collaboration with the advisory board. These professionals will also serve as judges, offering students direct feedback and insights into the business challenges they analyze. The competition seeks to provide students with the hands-on opportunity to apply their business knowledge to real-world scenarios while gaining industry exposure.
Throughout the spring semester, teams of students have worked on business cases that mirror challenges faced by actual companies, conducting research and developing strategic recommendations. Their final presentations will be judged on problem-solving approaches, analytical rigor, creativity, and feasibility. High-performing teams will receive awards and recognition for their efforts, including monetary rewards and opportunities for further professional development.
The competition offers students hands-on experience tackling complex business problems while allowing them to network with industry leaders, strengthening their career prospects. It also reinforces LMU’s reputation as a leader in experiential learning by fostering strong ties with local businesses, increasing opportunities for internships and job placements, and engaging alumni as mentors and judges.
