LMU-CVM Honors Dr. Victoria Shamblin

Shamblin getting award from Dean Anderson

The Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) recognized outstanding alumni accomplishments during its 2024 Homecoming festivities on October 12. The prestigious Jason Johnson Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medicine Award was presented to Dr. Victoria Shamblin, DVM, in recognition of her significant contributions to veterinary medicine and her leadership within the profession.

Established in 2024, the Jason Johnson Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medicine Award honors exceptional professional achievements by Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduates within ten years of graduation. The award is named after Dr. Jason Johnson, a founding faculty member of LMU-CVM, celebrated for his remarkable early-career accomplishments and dedication to veterinary education.

Shamblin, an exemplary graduate of the LMU-CVM Class of 2018, has made impressive strides in veterinary medicine since earning her degree. After joining Shenandoah Veterinary Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia, as an associate, she quickly took on leadership roles, becoming both HR director and manager of recruitment. Within two years, Shamblin became a partner at the practice, where she has overseen its growth to include 12 practicing veterinarians.

In addition to her clinical and managerial success, Shamblin has contributed to veterinary education. As the Veterinarian of Record for Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, she played a pivotal role in developing its Veterinary Technology program, which recently earned accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Her efforts aim to increase the number of veterinary technicians in the Appalachian region, addressing a critical need for skilled professionals in rural areas.

Shamblin continues to serve as an advisory board member for the curriculum and as a surgery instructor, while also hosting students from multiple veterinary schools, including LMU, Ross University, Mississippi State University, and Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, for hands-on learning experiences at her practice. A member of the AVMA and West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (WVVMA), she remains dedicated to advancing the profession and giving back to the community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Shamblin and her husband welcomed their first child in 2022, and she remains a proud LMU Railsplitter.
