Faculty members from the Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) recently attended the International Veterinary Simulation in Teaching (InVeST) Conference at the University of Surrey in England.

LMU-CVM faculty members Dr. Kimberly Carney, Dr. Julie Hunt, and Dr. James Little and LMU model builder Robert Brockman participated in the international event, which focuses on veterinary clinical skills and simulation. Their attendance at the conference provided an opportunity to further develop their expertise in veterinary education and explore the latest advancements in clinical skills training.

As part of the conference, Hunt delivered a presentation titled “The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges’ Handbook on the Use of Animals in Veterinary Medicine,” sharing insights on ethical practices and the role of animals in veterinary education with an international audience of educators and professionals. She also presented an equine castration model designed by her CVM colleague Dr. Liz Devine, a canine hindlimb model for the detection of ruptured cruciate ligaments designed by Dr. Robert Gilley, and a feline venipuncture model.

“We are proud of our CVM faculty and staff for representing LMU at such a prestigious event,” said LMU-CVM Dean Stacy Anderson, DVM, PhD, DACVS-LA. “Their participation not only strengthens their own teaching and clinical skills but also brings valuable knowledge back to our program, enriching the education of our students.”

The InVeST Conference is an annual event that brings together leaders in veterinary education from around the globe to collaborate, innovate, and improve veterinary clinical training through simulation and other educational tools.
