Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM) and Integrative Dental Medicine Scholar Society (IDMSS) are partnering to host the first annual Totality of Care Symposium: Reconnecting Medicine and Dentistry.
LMU-CDM and IDMSS offer an unparalleled educational opportunity for medical and dental health care professionals to shape the future of complete patient care. The symposium will unite experts in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and dental hygiene. Together they will explore scientific and clinical evidence of the connection between oral health and complete health while offering the necessary implementation steps to bridge the gap between medicine and dentistry.
Symposium attendees will observe clinical topics from salivary testing and probiotics to forensics, nitric oxide, "Leaky Syndrome," the "Inflammation Triad," Alzheimer's, and more. Each day will conclude with opportunities to engage with expert panels in discussion of breathing, airway, sleep disorders, orthognathic surgery, integrative medicine, and interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork.
The symposium will be held at the Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine Knoxville, Tennessee location on Friday, May 17 through Saturday May 18, 2024. A closed pre-symposium session for LMU students, faculty and staff will be available on Thursday May 16, 2024.
The symposium will feature keynote speaker, Nathan Bryan, PhD as well as multiple featured educators including LMU-CDM’s Director for Forensic Education, Biomedical Sciences, and Research Murray Marks, PhD, D-ABFA, F-AAFS, and Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine & Chair of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Shaza Mardini, DDS, MS, Diplomate ABOMR. Other featured educators include Witt Wilkerson, DMD, Gina Pritchard, DNP, RN, CNS, ACNP-BC, Lora Hooper, BSDH, RDH, EFDA, Anne O. Rice, RDH, BS, FAAOSH, CDP, William M. Hang, DDS, MSD, Victor Avis, DDS, Rachelle E. Beattie, PhD, A. Alan Reisinger III, MD, FACP, Sydney Avis and more.
Continuing Dental Education (CDE) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits will be available to symposium attendees.
