Since 1897, Lincoln Memorial University has honored the legacy of Abraham Lincoln by serving as a living memorial to our 16th President. Throughout our history, few individuals have worked toward this goal with greater energy than former LMU President Dr. Robert L. Kincaid. For over thirty years, Dr. Kincaid expanded our Lincoln collections and greatly enhanced LMU’s standing in the Lincoln community.
Today, the Kincaid family has continued their commitment to LMU through the philanthropy of Hansel O. and Dorothy M. Kincaid. In June 2018, the Kincaid Matching Challenge Campaign launched with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Museum. In October 2021, LMU celebrated the successful completion of the Campaign with over $3 million in gifts and commitments!
Campaign contributors have helped complete the Museum’s transformation into a modern showcase worthy of our exceptional collections. Through the Kincaid family’s partnership and the support of hundreds of donors, this Campaign is now providing opportunities for student research and community engagement, an expanded Museum collection, and the capacity to bring nationally recognized Lincoln scholars to campus.
