Building Specific Plans

Should the need arise due to unsafe circumstances, specific buildings may be secured by locking all entrance doors into those buildings with controlling access. The following procedure will be used to lockdown the Lincoln Memorial University main campus.

  1. Lockdown will be a coordinated effort by LMU Campus Police and Security Department through the direction of the Chief of Police and the President of the University.
  2. In the event the entire campus is in lockdown, LMU dispatch will make a campus-wide public address by LiveSafe, siren, MyLMU, and email announcing the campus lockdown. All buildings should lock their doors if not access controlled. as soon as the announcement is broadcasted.
  3. All occupants are to shelter in place away from doorways and windows and if possible, barricade the doors.
  4. The scope of the lockdown may be expanded to include roadways on campus and the possible evacuation of individuals from certain buildings and/or areas. If a building is to be evacuated LMU Dispatch will make an announcement to that effect.

Discontinuing Lockdown Procedures:

LMU Chief of Police will have dispatch send an announcement by LiveSafe, siren, MyLMU, and email when the emergency situation has concluded.
