Associate of Science in Equine Veterinary Science

Do you have a passion for horse care? Are you interested in a career in equine veterinary medicine? Our Associate of Science Degree in Equine Veterinary Science (AS-EVS) may be just what you are looking for! The AS-EVS is the degree and major for the Equine Veterinary Education Program (EVEP). To earn this major, you must also apply and be accepted into the EVEP.

The EVEP at Lincoln Memorial University is an advanced, immersive educational experience for new college freshmen possessing extensive experience with horses. The program's fundamental goal is to train you to be a practice-ready equine veterinarian with enhanced appeal with prospective clients. The program provides you with world-class instruction from educators, veterinarians, horsewomen and horsemen.

By being accepted into the EVEP, you will be granted conditional admission to the Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine's professional (DVM) program. This means that as a high school senior, you could secure a seat in veterinary school before having completed your undergraduate coursework, provided that you meet the required academic benchmarks while pursuing your undergraduate degree in addition to completing the application process for LMU-CVM's DVM program.

Internship Opportunities and Requirements

The EVEP curriculum and program includes mandatory Summer Immersive Experiences (SIEs) that last from mid-late May through mid-late July. SIEs are paid internships and housing will be provided or secured for you before arriving at your farm site.

These SIEs are considered critical to your professionalization, skill development and networking as an EVEP student. Partners with the SIEs are committed to providing you with hands-on learning experiences and fair compensation (varies depending on site). Throughout these SIEs, you will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned farm managers and veterinarians as you develop hands-on skills that will serve you well in your veterinary career.
