Master of Science in Psychology (MSP)

Hamilton School of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences! In our online graduate psychology program, you can choose between General or Forensic Psychology for your track, opening up a wide range of career options.

Earn your MSP degree in as little as 16 months. The program includes a summer practicum, giving you the opportunity to not only get experience working in your chosen area of psychology and mental health but also to earn course credit for volunteering at a behavioral science placement.

You will be empowered with a stronger, more involved understanding of topics ranging from statistical analysis to applied psychology, focusing on topics like forensic psychology, legal and ethical issues, and addiction.

Admission Requirements

Review our list of requirements to ensure that you are eligible for admission into LMU's Master of Science in Psychology program. If one or more of these requirements are not met, an entrance interview may be required.

  1. Completed Bachelor Degree: Your undergraduate degree must have been awarded by an institution with regional accreditation or its equivalent. An international degree must comply with university policies for certifying international degrees and/or credits. A minimum of 18 hours of undergraduate coursework in psychology or related field is required.
  2. Grade Point Average (GPA): You must have earned an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher on a four-point scale. 
  3. Letters of Reference: You are required to provide two letters of reference from your undergraduate instructors or one letter from an instructor and another from a professional source. 
  4. Personal Statement: You must submit an essay concerning your reasons for applying to the LMU Master of Science in Psychology program, your relevant skills, qualifications, preparation and a statement of goals after completing the program.

How to Apply

LMU's MSP program provides open enrollment for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Applications should be submitted at least three to four weeks before the start of each semester through the LMU Application Portal.
