As a university, our primary belief is to serve humanity to the best of our ability, and there are few professions that embody that belief quite like nursing does. As a nurse, you will have the opportunity to help people in need attain and regain their wellness. You will work with individuals, families and community groups to help them adapt to changes in their needs, roles and relationships, in accordance with their recent changes in health. In our program, you will receive the training and education needed to succeed in the 21st century healthcare environment as well as the high moral and ethical standards and sense of personal responsibility needed to be a successful, well-rounded nurse.
Our programs are fully accredited and meet all required academic standards. At LMU, we provide both a fully online and a seated, in-person option with a small student to teacher ratio, perfect for optimal hands-on learning. Our in-person option is offered at our beautiful Cedar Bluff location in Knoxville, Tennessee. While you have the option to pursue our program as either a full- or part-time student, the credentials for each type of participation varies. The MSN-FPMHNP program can be completed in 17 months of full-time study or 28 months or part-time study. Both options will require you to complete 44 semester hours of graduate coursework including a minimum of 660 clinical hours.
Most clinical placements for the program will be within commuting distance of your attending site. If you reside further away from the attending site and can help our faculty identify a willing and capable preceptor in your community, we may be able to offer a clinical placement in your home area. To help you meet your educational needs, clinical placements may be in private practices, community health centers, public health centers and other settings. Together, with the help of our faculty, we will work closely with clinical preceptors to help you make the most of your practical experiences.
Past graduates of the LMU Caylor School of Nursing achieved consistently high pass rates on certification examinations.
