LMU Hosts 2024 Spring Commencement

Camille Davison and Jada Rose Lee

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) celebrated the achievements of its graduates during the Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony, held May 4 at the Tex Turner Arena. President Jason McConnell conferred the degrees of 450 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree candidates.

Camille Davison, a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation degree recipient, earned undergraduate valedictorian honors with the highest cumulative grade point average. Jada Rose Lee, a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree recipient, was named salutatorian with the second highest cumulative grade point average.

Houston Award WinnerAs part of the ceremony, Dr. Jay Stubblefield, executive vice president for Academic Affairs, presented the prestigious Houston Award to Dr. Colleen Bullen, a distinguished faculty member in the LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program.

The Commencement Address was delivered by John Shoffner, Ax-2 Pilot and Astronaut, whose inspiring words resonated with the audience, encouraging graduates to reach for the stars and pursue their dreams with unwavering determination.

“So, Gen-Z, in the end, you will create change and achieve greatness,” Shoffner said. “Greatness will emerge as a result of you believing in yourself and accepting that everyone suffers, and that life will sometimes be unfair. When you do this, you will grow empathy that will serve you and those around you. You become great for yourself and great for others. Through all of this, the currency is love. Love for those around you, the work that you do, and love for yourself.”
