Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM) announces the publication of a research study by LMU-CDM professors Dr. Karima Ait-Aissa, Dr. Amal Sahyoun, Dr. Undral Munkhsaikhan, Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Apu, Dr. Modar Kassan and Dr. Ammaar Abidi.

The publication, titled "The Impact of Absenteeism on Academic Performance Among First-Year Dental Students." was published in The Journal of Dental Education and addresses the critical issue of chronic absenteeism in health professions education.

The study demonstrates through rigorous analysis that strategic interventions like in-class pop quizzes significantly improve attendance, engagement, and academic performance.

Their findings now reach dental educators and administrators nationwide, providing evidence-based strategies to enhance curriculum design and attendance policies while reinforcing the vital connection between classroom presence and student success in dental education.
