The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) School of Business will launch a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration in Fall 2025, the School of Business’s first PhD program. The program will offer concentrations in business analytics, management and marketing, strengthening LMU’s commitment to advancing research and thought leadership in business.
The fully online, 66-credit hour program prepared professionals for careers in academia, research, and leadership. The curriculum includes 12 credit hours of foundational courses in business theories and practices, 12 credit hours of advanced business core courses, 15 credit hours of a chosen concentration, 15 credit hours in research methods, and 12 credit hours dedicated to dissertation work. Students may transfer up to 12 credit hours from an MBA or business-related master’s degree.
Students can specialize in business analytics, management, or marketing. The business analytics track covers business intelligence, data mining, and decision analysis. The management track includes organizational theory, entrepreneurship, and managerial decision-making. The marketing track features advanced consumer behavior, global brand strategy, and integrated marketing communications.
“The launch of our online PhD in Business Administration reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of working professionals who seek to advance their careers without disrupting their current responsibilities," said Dr. Kelsey Metz, Dean of the School of Business. "By providing a flexible, research-intensive program, we are creating opportunities for individuals to obtain an advanced, research-oriented degree that equips them with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to drive innovation in business and academia. This addition to our graduate offerings further strengthens our mission to provide high-quality, accessible education tailored to today’s professionals.”
The program follows a cohort model with students taking up to six credit hours per semester, fostering collaboration and academic support. Through the School of Business’s partnerships with businesses and academic institutions, students gain real-world experience and a global perspective on business challenges.
