Research conducted by Dr. Lauren Wisnieski, associate professor of public health and research at the Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM), has been featured in EquiManagement. The study, originally published in Equine Veterinary Journal, examines the key factors influencing job satisfaction and retention among equine veterinarians.
Wisnieski’s research highlights the challenges equine veterinarians face in their professional lives, including work-life balance, compensation, and workplace culture. The study also explores potential solutions to improve job satisfaction and reduce burnout within the profession.
“This research sheds light on critical issues affecting equine veterinarians and offers insight into how the profession can foster a more sustainable and fulfilling work environment,” Wisnieski said. “I hope these findings will contribute to meaningful changes in veterinary workplaces and encourage a greater focus on employee well-being.”
The study’s findings have sparked interest across the veterinary community, with a follow-up student-led version of the manuscript already in progress.
The article has been recognized for its clinical relevance and selected for publication in the Early View section of the Equine Veterinary Journal (EVJ) this month. As a result of this distinction, a synopsis of the study will be shared with equine practitioners through the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA)’s e-News and distributed to other prominent organizations, including the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).
