The Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) has named Dr. Jeff Burleson as the director of Instructional and Curriculum Innovation and associate professor of Veterinary Education. A native of Kingsport, Tennessee, Burleson brings a wealth of expertise in educational technology and curriculum design to the LMU-CVM team.
Burleson’s academic journey began at East Tennessee State University, where he completed his undergraduate studies. He went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a PhD from Old Dominion University. With a career focused on enhancing education through technology and innovation, Burleson is well-positioned to contribute to LMU-CVM’s mission of delivering cutting-edge veterinary education.
Prior to joining LMU-CVM, Burleson served as associate professor of education at Tusculum University, specializing in organizational training and performance management. His previous experience also includes serving as the director of online learning at LMU where he oversaw learning management systems and budgets for online instruction.

Burleson’s professional focus includes improving learner executive functioning skills, reducing cognitive load in online learning environments, and refining instructional design techniques. His extensive experience in supporting faculty development and integrating technology into education will be instrumental in fostering LMU-CVM’s continued growth.

Outside of his professional work, Burleson enjoys life in Kingsport, Tennessee, with his wife of 35 years. Together, they are proud parents to four children and two grandchildren.
