Carter and Moyers School of Education Welcomes EdD Cohort

EdD Cohort

The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Carter and Moyers School of Education recently welcomed the newest Doctor of Education (EdD) cohort at the Cedar Bluff Campus. Directed by Dr. Julia Kirk, the EdD program at LMU continues to develop educational leaders equipped to address the challenges of today’s dynamic educational landscape.

LMU offers a 36-, 48-, or 63-hour doctoral program, which is designed to provide advanced training and research opportunities for educators seeking to elevate their careers and make a significant impact on educational research and policy. The program offers a rigorous curriculum that integrates theory, research, and practice, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to lead and innovate in various educational settings.

“This cohort represents a diverse group of educators, all of whom bring unique experiences and perspectives to the program,” said Kirk. “We look forward to supporting their academic and professional growth as they work toward becoming the next generation of educational researchers."

The Cedar Bluff Campus provides a convenient location for students in the Knoxville area, offering state-of-the-art facilities and resources that support a collaborative and engaging learning environment. The program’s format is designed to accommodate working professionals, with flexible scheduling that allows students to balance their academic pursuits with their professional responsibilities. The program meets one weekend per month, for a balance of in-person collaboration and between class online supplementation.

Students in the EdD program at LMU have the opportunity to specialize in instructional leadership or instructional practice. The program also emphasizes the importance of research, with students undertaking dissertation projects that contribute to the field's body of knowledge and address real-world challenges in education. Graduates of the program will join a distinguished group of alumni who are making significant contributions to the field of education at local, national, and international levels.
