The SGA serves as a vital communication link between students, faculty, staff, and administration. The organization works to represent the student body, striving to create an ideal learning environment at LMU. The structure of SGA includes an executive cabinet, senators, and representatives from every undergraduate club and organization. The executive cabinet is responsible for guiding SGA's overall direction, while senators draft and vote on legislation affecting student life. Representatives act as a voice for their respective organizations during General Assembly meetings.
“Student Government is the cornerstone of leadership development and advocacy within a college community,” said SGA President McKenna Gudger. “It empowers students to be the voice of their peers, driving meaningful change and fostering a sense of responsibility and civic engagement.”
SGA Advisor Dawson Delph echoed Gudger's sentiments. “I firmly believe that LMU’s Student Government Association is the primary avenue for the student voice to be heard by University Administration. Being involved in student government allows students to leave a lasting impact on the culture of student life at LMU,” said Delph.
SGA boasts a membership of over 30 students who gather at General Assembly meetings held bi-weekly on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Math & Science Building, Room 348.
In recent years, SGA has passed several key pieces of legislation, including the implementation of a Student Activity Fee that increased student programming in addition to a bill that established a fall break. The Executive Cabinet is also exploring opportunities for students within SGA to attend conferences.
