The Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM) student dental clinic at the LMU Tower (1705 St. Mary Street, Knoxville, TN 37917) is now open and accepting new patients.
“This clinic provides a unique opportunity for the community to receive high-quality dental care at a reduced cost, while also contributing to the education and training of future dental professionals,” said LMU-CDM Interim Dean, Qi Wang, DDS.
At the LMU-CDM student clinic, all dental work is performed by pre-doctoral dental students under the close supervision of licensed, experienced faculty dentists. While the clinic operates differently from a private dental office due to its teaching environment, patients can expect to receive the same standard of care, with the added benefit of individualized attention and lower fees.
Patients undergo a preliminary screening process to determine needs and ensure they are suitable teaching cases for student doctors. This process includes a review of medical and dental history, a comprehensive oral examination, and dental X-rays. Due to the personalized care and educational focus, appointments may take longer than usual, with sessions lasting up to four hours. This extended time allows students and faculty to collaborate closely on every aspect of patient treatment, ensuring the highest level of care.
Patients in need of emergency services or alternative treatment options can receive referrals to local area partners. Services referred to outside dental offices will not be available at the discounted rates offered at the LMU-CDM dental clinics.
The LMU-CDM student clinic is open for appointments Monday through Thursday, with appointment times available at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling 865-370-2128. Due to high call volumes, patients are encouraged to leave a detailed message with their contact information if they are unable to reach a representative directly. An LMU-CDM representative will return the call to schedule the appointment.
