Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has established the College of Mathematics, Sciences and Health Professions, effective July 1. This strategic reorganization elevates the former School of Mathematics and Sciences to a college and incorporates LMU's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) programs.
The new college is led by Dr. Adam Rollins, who will serve as the executive dean and chief academic officer. Dr. Julie Hall will take on the role of assistant dean for undergraduate programs. Both bring a wealth of experience and a shared vision for advancing the academic excellence and collaborative spirit of LMU.
"This reorganization marks a pivotal moment in LMU's commitment to fostering academic growth and interdisciplinary collaboration,” said LMU President Jason McConnell. “The integration of our DPT and OTD programs into the College of Mathematics, Sciences, and Health Professions will streamline pathways for our undergraduate students and enhance our research and service initiatives."
Dr. Kellee Harper-Hanigan will continue her exemplary leadership as the DPT founding program director, ensuring continuity and excellence in the program. Meanwhile, Dr. Colleen Bullen has been appointed as the interim program director for the OTD program, bringing her expertise and dedication to the role.
The establishment of the College of Mathematics, Sciences, and Health Professions is designed to simplify the transition for LMU undergraduate students to enroll in the DPT and OTD programs upon graduation, facilitating a more cohesive academic journey and fostering increased collaboration in research and service activities among faculty and students, to ultimately enhance the overall educational experience and expand opportunities for interdisciplinary work.
"The creation of this college allows us to unify our strengths in mathematics, sciences, and health professions, providing a comprehensive and integrated educational environment for our students,” Rollins said. “We are committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and service in these critical fields."
