Lasley Named Director of Athletic Development

Greg Lasley

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has named Greg Lasley as the new director of athletic development in the Department of University Advancement. Lasley will be responsible for cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects for LMU Athletics, as well as stewarding athletic donors and alumni through visits, calls and events. His role will also involve working closely with the Athletics Department to launch the LMU Splitter Society and assist with various groups such as the L Club, Baseball Diamond Club, 1897 Club and Athletes Hall of Fame. Additionally, he will cultivate and expand the Railsplitter Legends program to honor former athletes across all sports.

Lasley brings an impressive educational and professional background to this role. A 1982 graduate of Middlesboro High School, where he played basketball and golf, Lasley was inducted into the MHS Hall of Fame in 2018. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from LMU in 1987, followed by a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in 1997. During his time at LMU, Lasley was a dedicated student-athlete, participating in golf all four years, and was inducted into the LMU Athletes Hall of Fame in 2014.

Lasley has dedicated 32 years of service to LMU in various capacities. He has served as a Student Support Services advisor, LMU Women's Golf coach, dean of students, and director of intramurals. His career began at J. Frank White Academy in 1992, where he worked as a health and physical education instructor, men's and women's golf coach, assistant boys' basketball coach and head women's basketball coach. Lasley is also a member of the LMU Athletes Hall of Fame Committee and the Middlesboro Athletics Hall of Fame Committee.

“LMU has played such a significant role in my life for over 40 years and has played a vital role in the lives of my family,” said Lasley. “From my experience as a student-athlete in undergraduate studies, as well as a graduate student. Serving in various faculty and staff roles, the values and mission of the University have helped shape who I am as an individual and molded a portion of my character as a professional. I am looking forward to bringing the passion and commitment I have for this great institution and all of the athletic programs, to my new role in University Advancement. I am humbled for this wonderful opportunity and so blessed to work with a wonderful group of people. I am truly excited to begin this journey.”

Lasley resides in Middlesboro, Kentucky, with his wife, Connie, who is also an LMU alumna and retired elementary educator. They have two children: Jarod, who graduated from LMU in 2017, and Grecia, who is currently a senior at LMU.
