Lincoln Memorial University - Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) proudly announces that Madison Snedigar, Class of 2027 Silver Cohort, has been selected as the recipient of the Adel A. Malak Scholarship by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Adel A. Malak, a distinguished Public Health Veterinarian who made significant contributions to food safety inspection during his tenure with the USDA FSIS. This scholarship aims to empower veterinary students with a passion for public health to actively engage in food safety inspection and public health initiatives.
Snedigar's exemplary dedication to the field of public health and veterinary medicine has earned her this prestigious scholarship. She will receive $15,000 annually to support her education and participation in the program. Additionally, she will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through a paid position at a USDA FSIS facility during breaks, working under the guidance of experienced FSIS veterinarians.
"This scholarship is a tremendous honor and opportunity for me to further my education and contribute to the important work of ensuring food safety and public health," said Snedigar. "I am grateful for the support of Lincoln Memorial University and the USDA FSIS in empowering aspiring veterinarians like myself to make a positive impact in our communities."
The Adel A. Malak Scholarship not only provides financial support but also offers Snedigar a pathway to a fulfilling career as a public health veterinarian with the USDA FSIS. This invaluable experience will equip her with the skills and expertise necessary to address critical public health challenges and safeguard the well-being of consumers nationwide.
"We are incredibly proud of Madison's achievement and recognition as the recipient of the Adel A. Malak Scholarship," said Dean Stacy Anderson, DVM, MVSc, PhD, DACVS-LA.
