Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum Welcomes Taylon Barnhill

The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum (ALLM) at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) proudly announces the appointment of Taylon Barnhill as the new archivist and librarian.

Originally from Pineville, Kentucky, Barnhill brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. A graduate of Bell County High School, Barnhill pursued her higher education at the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2020. During her undergraduate years, Barnhill distinguished herself as a Robinson Scholar, Smith Scholar, and recipient of both the Linda Kompanik Award and the Farquhar Award for Poetry.

"As a young woman from Appalachia, I am thrilled to start this new chapter here at LMU," said Barnhill. "This opportunity not only allows me to delve into the rich history and cultural heritage of our region but also enables me to contribute to preserving and sharing it with the world. I am eager to dive into the archives, uncover stories waiting to be told, and curate experiences that will captivate visitors. With the support of my loving husband, Peyton, and our faithful dog, Finn, I am ready to embrace this journey with enthusiasm and dedication."

Continuing her academic journey, Barnhill earned a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky, where she served as the Graduate Student Congress Representative. She further enhanced her qualifications by obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands.

Barnhill's professional experience includes working with UK Libraries and Corbin Public Library, as well as serving within the Knox County Public Schools system. Additionally, she has been an active volunteer with the Knox-Whitley Humane Association.

In her new role at the ALLM, Barnhill will serve as the archivist and librarian. Her responsibilities include the organization and bibliographic control of the museum's archives and rare book collections, creating finding aids, processing materials, responding to research inquiries, digitizing documents and photographs, providing reference services, and developing innovative access to the collection.

Barnhill's appointment underscores the ALLM's commitment to excellence in preserving and promoting the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the story of Lincoln Memorial University.
