Lipscomb Promoted to Assistant Vice President for University Advancement

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Vice President for University Advancement Frank Woodward, DPA, has announced the promotion of Donnie Lipscomb from director of development to assistant vice president of University Advancement.

In his new role, Lipscomb will continue to cultivate major gift support for LMU, while also taking on additional leadership duties within the division of University Advancement.

Lipscomb has been a valued member of the University Advancement division since 2009, first serving as the director of alumni services before being promoted to senior director of alumni services. While heading alumni services, Lipscomb introduced the LMU Alumni Travel program, grew alumni participation rates and launched new alumni chapters.

In 2015, Lipscomb became the director of development. In his new role, he began to cultivate major gifts on LMU’s behalf. Over the past nine years, Lipscomb has raised over two million dollars for LMU scholarships, capital projects and annual giving.

“Donnie is a proven leader in advancement and a valued member of our fundraising team,” Woodward said. “This new leadership role will enable him to make an even greater major gift impact here at LMU for our students and programs.”

Lipscomb served on the board of directors for The Great Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) and is a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners. He is an Executive Leadership Institute Pressnell Fellow with the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association. Lipscomb has attended the Institute for Charitable Giving Major Gift Fundraising Seminar “The Art of Asking” and completed a pair of certifications from the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Prior to joining LMU, Lipscomb served as a senior retail support specialist with Lockheed Martin IMS. He earned a bachelor's degree in Appalachian Development Studies and a Master of Public Administration from LMU.

A native of Wedowee, Alabama, he has called Harrogate home since 2006. While his work on behalf of LMU often keeps him away from home, he is supported by his wife, Pauline Lipscomb, and the couple’s adult children Jake Elliott, Lindsey Elliott and MacKinsey Lipscomb.
