Ables Named Associate Dean of Basic Medical Sciences, Professor of Pharmacology at LMU-DCOM in Orange Park, Florida
Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is pleased to announce the hiring of Adrienne Z. Ables, PharmD, MS (MedEdL), FNAOME, at its Orange Park, Florida location. She will officially begin working for LMU-DCOM on March 1, 2024.
Ables will serve as associate dean of basic medical sciences and professor of pharmacology for LMU-DCOM at the developing site in Orange Park, Florida. Recently, LMU initiated the accreditation process with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Commission on College Accreditation (COCA) for the location.
“I was drawn to LMU-DCOM by the opportunity to positively contribute my experience, knowledge, and skills by cultivating the next generation of physicians who care for their patients in a holistic manner,” she said.
Ables grew up in New Jersey but moved to South Carolina to attend graduate school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She currently lives in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Ables has an expansive background in higher education surrounding pharmacology and osteopathic medicine. From 2015-2020, she served as assistant dean for faculty development and professor of pharmacology at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) – Carolinas Campus. From 2011-2015, she was the chair and professor of pharmacology.
Prior to joining VCOM, she was a professor of family medicine at the Spartanburg Family Medicine Residency Program and a clinical pharmacist at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
She is published in several books and journals. Ables has received awards such as Engaging Lecturer of the Year, Faculty of the Block, and an award from the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians for the Attending Paper of the Year (2015).
Currently, Ables operates Adrienne Ables Consulting, LLC where she focuses on curriculum design, faculty development, and clinical consulting.
She enjoys spending her free time with her new rescue dog, Maggie, who is a miniature schnauzer.
