LMU-DCOM Student Doctor Named a 2023 Sterling K. Welch Scholars Grant Recipient

Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) student doctor Anthony Campbell received a grant from the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF).

The AOF’s Board of Directors and its Scholarships and Awards Committee awarded Campbell a 2023 Sterling K. Welch Scholars Grant of $2,000. Campbell was selected for the award based on strong academic achievement, participation in volunteer service, financial need and a strong commitment to osteopathic medicine. Campbell, a native of Plant City, Florida, is a second-year student at DCOM at LMU-Knoxville. He serves as the vice president of the First-Generation Club, a member of the Internal Medicine Club, is a researcher and volunteers at the Kim Health Center in Knoxville.

“The AOF Welch Scholars grant has enabled me to connect with other Osteopathic schools and further my dedication to advocate for the health and well-being of the residents of East Tennessee,” said Campbell. “This grant has allowed me to continue serving as a volunteer at local clinics and master my coursework by relieving some of the financial pressures associated with osteopathic medical school.”

The grant was made possible through a bequest from Sterling Welch, DO, to help pay for the costs of osteopathic medical school.
