The Lincoln Memorial University-School of Medical Science (LMU-SMS) Physician Assistant program was honored at the Great Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 2 in Knoxville.
The LMU University Advancement Office sponsored a table in honor of the LMU PA program recognizing their hard work and accomplishments in fundraising.
Director of Development for Health Sciences Division Bridgette Welch, Alicia Metcalf, Executive Assistant to the President Andrea Shipley, LMU-SMS Dean Michael Stephens, PA Program Director Paula Miksa, Cassidy Hanson, and Jessica Hall represented LMU.
“The students in this program embody the spirit of the LMU mission,” said Miksa. “They have coordinated numerous events to serve the community and promote the PA profession.”
Over the past year, the students in the program have raised over $10,000 to support Servolution, a non-profit health services provider located near the University’s main campus in Harrogate. In addition, the students collaborated with the Shipley family to establish the Gracie Dru Shipley Memorial Scholarship. The students have raised $31,600 for the endowed scholarship which also increases awareness for pediatric organ donation.
