Among the topics covered were academic success, exam strategies, student life, and the importance of the dental profession in the Appalachian region.

“We are thrilled to welcome the second cohort of dental students into the LMU-CDM community,” said Dean and Chief Academic Officer Denise Terese-Koch, DDS, FAGD, MBA, EdD. “With our rigorous curriculum, based on the ADEA 39 Competencies of the New General Dentist, our students will graduate with more clinical experience than their colleagues from other institutions. Our curriculum is developed around a person-centered ’Totality of Care‘ model, which focuses on oral-systemic health and the provision of comprehensive care focusing on patient care. Our practice modo is to always ‘Autograph your Work with Excellence.’”

Classes at LMU-CDM began on August 1 for the DMD students, with the dental hygiene program set to begin classes on August 16.

LMU-CDM received a total of 616 applications between the two programs. Many students matriculating in each program attended colleges and universities outside of Tennessee.
