The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Women of Service (WOS) Fashion Show is just around the corner. The event, set for Thursday, August 17, in Tex Turner Arena, is sponsored this year by Dr. Audrey Kinder of Kinder Family and Cosmetic Dentistry of Pineville, Kentucky. Kinder graduated magna cum laude from LMU in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2018.
“Dr. Kinder is the ideal person to partner with Women of Service for this annual fundraiser,” said WOS Fashion Show Committee Chair Sheliah Cosby. “She is a proud alumnae of our University. She and several of her family members have attended LMU and have nothing but positive things to say about their experiences. Furthermore, Dr. Kinder is passionate about serving others through her work and her many community involvements. Her mission aligns perfectly with that of the Women of Service organization.”
The annual fundraiser will feature a meal, current fashions modeled on stage and fashion industry representatives. All tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door. The floor of the arena will be the setting for showcasing fashions from AD Campbell, Belk, Cabi, Chico’s, Jill’s Beauty Den, KC’s Fashions, Kelley Marie Chic Boutique, Legacy Down South, Lilly Pulitzer, Maurices, The Village Shops Boutique and Woodlake Pro Shop. WVLT morning news anchor Casey Wheeless will return as the emcee. Doors open at 6 p.m., food will be served between 6-7 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.
There will not be a vendor event the day of the Fashion Show this year, but the Fashion Show Committee has made several changes to make it more fun and enjoyable.
“We try to make each Fashion Show unique and better than the year before, and this year’s committee feels like this is going to be the best and most relevant one to date,” said Cosby. “In addition to our wonderful fashions, we have experts who will speak about the latest trends in clothing and jewelry, the significance of wellness as it relates to skincare, and the importance of good photos for our everyday life and for the legacy we leave for our families.”
Individual tickets will include a buffet meal. Tickets for adults are $25 and LMU students (with ID) and children ages 6-12 are $10. Parking for the Fashion Show is in the back of Tex Turner Arena, where ticketholders will enter. All tickets must be purchased in advance either online at alumni.LMUnet.edu/FSTickets, from University Advancement in Grant-Lee Hall or from any member of the WOS Fashion Show committee. Established in 2011, the LMU Women of Service is open to all women who want to help students at LMU. By living as an example of service, WOS members teach LMU students about the mission of service to humanity. The Women of Service Fashion Show and the Christmas Festival are dedicated to raising funds for scholarships and other WOS initiatives. The WOS has provided 15 scholarship awards to date and also supports five food pantries and a student career closet.
