The Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) recognized students in its undergraduate programs during the annual awards and pinning ceremony and banquet.
The Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) program offers an associate of science degree, preparing students to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination.
Jay Miles, DVM, assistant dean and assistant professor of veterinary science, led the presentations with participation from other faculty members as well as staff. The event is held to celebrate graduating students’ achievements. Members of the class of 2023 received their veterinary technician pins and several students were presented with awards. The ceremony was held at the Cumberland Gap Convention Center in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, with family and friends in attendance.
“The pinning ceremony is an event that all of our staff and faculty look forward to each year,” Miles said. “It is the night that we get to honor our Veterinary Technician students and show their families all the hard work that the students have put in to reach this point in their academic career.”
Students in the VMT and Veterinary Health Science (VHS) programs were recognized. Students awarded were Nicole Stidham, the Tennessee Veterinary Technician Association Scholarship; Natalie Adams, the Edwin G. Robertson Award; Rebecca Freetage and Victoria Rucinski, the VMT Academic Excellence Award; Nicole Landers, the Veterinary Technologist Academic Excellence Award; Alexis Moore, the LMU VHS James Herriot Award and Madison Criswell, the LMU VHS Undergraduate Research Award.
