Professor Tommy Sangchompuphen specializes in assisting students to pass the bar exam.
Prior to joining Duncan School of Law, Professor Sangchompuphen began his academic
career as an assistant professor and later as Assistant Dean for Student Learning
and Outcomes at Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia, where he developed,
directed, and taught in the school’s academic success and bar preparation programs.
As an administrator, he worked directly with faculty and senior administration to
create and implement a comprehensive bar passage program and develop appropriate assessments
and evaluations to measure students’ learning.
Since 2000, Professor Sangchompuphen has written and edited several books designed
to improve students’ performance on the bar exam, including the primary course materials
for BARBRI’s Essay Advantage courses in several states. He has also been involved
with bar exam essay and performance test instruction in several states. After law
school, he was an associate with Bassford, Lockhart, Truesdell & Briggs, P.A. (now
Bassford Remele, P.A.), one of Minnesota’s oldest law firms.
While in law school, Professor Sangchompuphen was honored on the Dean’s List and served
on the Board of Governors for the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association.
He is a member of the Minnesota bar.
