    Responsibilities:
    •Medical Support and Patient Care:
    •Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing equipment, supplies, and patients.
    •Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
    •Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgeries and dental procedures.
    •Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory work, including blood draws and urinalysis.

    Animal Handling and Restraint:
    •Safely handle and restrain animals for various procedures, examinations, and treatments.

    Client Communication and Education:

    • Assist with substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health intensive outpatient program (IOP) development as well as the development of policies/procedures related to SUDs and mental health treatment.
    • Function as liaison between outside substance abuse treatment centers and mental health centers. Expedite client referral to outside centers and enable patients that come from outside centers to establish outpatient care with CCHS
    • Work with local judicial and legal services to establish a drug/recovery court that enables legal pressure to expedite clients recovery from substance abuse
    • Provide the most up to date and evidence based treatment for CCHS patients with mental health substance use disorders.
    • Functions under approved counseling protocols. Adheres to policies and procedures.
    • Develops individualized substance use disorder and mental health treatment plans.
    • Monitor client’s condition and progress, reevaluate treatments, and update treatment plans on a regular basis.
    • Refer patients to other practitioners, other community resources, or higher levels of substance abuse treatment when necessary.
    • Obtains and maintains credentialing by insurance companies. Is familiar with the various insurance plans Center wants to be providers with, follows their agreements regarding referrals, pre-certification, prescriptions, hospitalization, and other utilization requirements and expectations.
    • Must be comfortable with maintaining patient safety, including, but not limited to, conflict resolution, de-escalation, calling the authorities when necessary and other appropriate crisis management.

We offer internships during the spring, summer, and fall terms. The main purpose of these internships is to provide valuable and hands-on experiences in our organization's daily operations working alongside our attorneys and staff. We eagerly welcome fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and genuine enthusiasm for non-profit endeavors. Students interested in a summer internship must be prepared to devote a minimum time commitment of 20 hours per week for at least 10 weeks. Students interested in Fall and Spring internships must be prepared to devote a minimum time commitment of 10 hours per week for at least 8 weeks.

    LASMTC acknowledges that unpaid internships can create and further exacerbate racial and economic disparities that currently exist in our communities and run the risk of unequal socioeconomic and racial representation within the pool of applicants.     The audit internship program in the TVA Office of the Inspector General offers students an opportunity to work with professional auditors in diverse subject areas. You will gain relevant work experience and a context for your classroom learning. The program is structured to meet any internship requirements included in university curricula.

    We have two Fall 2024 internships available in our Audit and Evaluations department. Each intern will be assigned to one of the following departments:

    • IT Audits- The IT Audits department performs security and control audits of TVA's IT infrastructure, policies, development processes, operations, and IT governance/oversight. IT Audits' work stems from mandated reviews in the areas of privacy and TVA's security program management as well as from risk assessments of existing and emerging technology.
    • Evaluations – Projects- The Evaluations – Projects department focuses on project performance by TVA and Contractors by performing evaluations of the effectiveness and efficiency of TVA’s planning processes and project management.
    • Evaluations – Operations- The Evaluations – Operations performs both comprehensive reviews and more limited-scope policy and program reviews to monitor compliance, measure performance, and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

    Interning with the OIG will provide:

    • Bi-weekly pay at an hourly rate based on degree program.
    • Accrual of TVA and federal service time based on hours worked during internship period.
    • Meaningful work representative of actual audit responsibilities.
    • Parking or mass transit reimbursement.
    • Travel expense reimbursement (in accordance with TVA Travel Regulations) for authorized travel.
    • Reimbursement for safety equipment, as required, such as safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, etc.

    Required/Preferred Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or graduate program accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. For those enrolled in a bachelor’s program, students must have completed their sophomore year.
    • Majors in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Process Engineering, or related fields of study are desirable.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
    • Must be at least 18 years old and of no relation to an officer of TVA (VP or above).
    • Must be a U.S. citizen.
