The mission of the MLS Program at the Lincoln Memorial University, School of Medical Sciences is to provide the highest standards of learning and scholarship to a diverse student population. The faculty is committed to preparing exceptional medical laboratory scientists with the necessary medical knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professional integrity to become contributing professionals in the health care community. Medical laboratory scientists collaborate very closely with medical clinicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease processes as well as monitoring the effectiveness of therapy. It is estimated that up to 70% of all decisions regarding a patient’s diagnosis, treatment, hospital admission, and discharge are based upon the results of the tests that medical laboratory scientists perform.
Areas of the modern medical laboratory include microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, toxicology, and molecular diagnostics. Our students receive an intense learning experience in both the didactic and clinical areas. Our graduates are well equipped to become leaders within the modern healthcare team.
Thank you for your interest in our Medical Laboratory Science Program. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything that I can do to assist you in becoming a medical laboratory scientist.
