The LMU Music Minor is a program that provides students with instruction in performance, theory, and individual practice while allowing them to be flexible to their own desired outcomes. The 15-credit program is selected from a variety of core and elective classes meant to best fit the individual musician while ensuring their knowledge of core musical ideologies.

Course Requirements
Required Credits - 6 credit hours
Take these 6 credit hours:
- MUSC 101 Class Piano (1 credit hour)
- MUSC 111 Music Theory I (3 credit hours)
- MUSC 163 Applied Lessons I (1 credit hour) Students will take two semesters of Applied Lessons I for a total of 2 credit hours.
Elective Credits - 9 hours
Take 9 credit hours from any of the following classes, including repeatable courses:
- MUSC 100 Music Appreciation (3 credit hours)
- MUSC 103 Tri State Community Choir (1 credit hour) *This course is repeatable.
- MUSC 112 Music Theory II (3 credit hours)
- MUSC 143A Pep Band (1 credit hour) *This course is repeatable.
- MUSC 143G Jazz Ensemble (1 credit hour) *This course is repeatable.
- MUSC 153 Concert Band (1 credit hour) *This course is repeatable.
- MUSC 163 Applied Lessons I (1 credit hour) Students can take up to 2 additional semesters of MUSC 163 – Applied Lessons for repeatable credit beyond the initial 2 required semesters, and they will count as elective credits.
