The VBMS program can help strengthen an application to veterinary school by providing its graduates a solid foundation in the life sciences and assisting in the development of professional skills. Students who maintain a cumulative 3.0+ graduate GPA throughout their coursework are guaranteed an interview for admission at LMU-CVM. The VBMS program does not guarantee admission to any professional program, either at LMU or elsewhere.
GPA minimums are recommended for successful student outcomes but are not the sole determinant of a student's potential. The VBMS admissions committee reviews applications holistically and will take into consideration clear evidence of an upward trajectory in science coursework performance if an applicant's GPA is lower than recommended. Applicants with a desire to attend professional schools are encouraged to consider the impact of the VBMS program's 30 credit hours on the applicant's overall cumulative GPA.
No. Students who maintain a cumulative 3.0+ graduate GPA throughout coursework are guaranteed an interview in their graduating semester, but they must complete the VMCAS application and submit other application materials as required for LMU-CVM. This program does not guarantee any student a seat in LMU-CVM.
Students may transfer no more than 6 relevant credit hours, and all transfer credits must be approved by the VBMS Admissions Committee. Requests for transfer credits must be submitted before the first day of classes of the student's first semester.
No. Interested applicants with specific concerns about prerequisite courses or other application materials are encouraged to contact CVMgradprograms@LMUnet.edu, but no applicant will be advised on the likelihood of their acceptance into the program. It is the applicant's responsibility to review the provided program application and admission requirements and ensure they have met those requirements to the best of their abilities.
