What is Osteopathic Recognition?
Osteopathic Recognition is the status conferred upon ACGME-accredited graduate
medical education programs that provide requisite education in Osteopathic Principles and
Practice (OPP), a philosophical and practical approach to patient management and
treatment, including osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), based on an
understanding of body unity, self-healing, and self-regulatory mechanisms, and the
interrelationship of structure and function.
