KAMA Supports LMU-Caylor School of Nursing

Simulation Lab

The Lincoln Memorial University-Caylor School of Nursing (LMU-CSON) received a grant from the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance (KAMA) to support continued development of its simulation lab.

“The Caylor School of Nursing is so appreciative of KAMA and its support of our nursing students and the program,” said Dr. Tammy Dean, LMU-CSON dean. “KAMA’s generosity throughout the years has assisted multiple students through nursing scholarships.  Furthermore, KAMA has supported the nursing program through donations that have assisted in providing much needed educational equipment.”

The simulation lab provides nursing students with immersive training. Research has proven that high-fidelity simulation training boosts knowledge retention, decision-making skills and team performance. Generous benefactors, like KAMA, allow LMU to keep the Sim Lab outfitted with up-to-date technology.

KAMA has supported students at LMU pursuing nursing since 2004 when it first funded the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance Annual Scholarship at LMU. The officers and executive committee of KAMA established a philanthropic fund in 1981. The KAMA Philanthropic Fund is supported through contributions from KAMA members and through three annual fundraisers: Fashiondram, Doc Rock and the Holiday Sharing Card. The money raised is distributed as grants to local health-related organizations and as scholarships to medical and nursing schools.

KAMA is a non-profit organization established in partnership with the Knoxville Academy of Medicine to promote health education programs that impact the welfare of our community and to encourage friendships among its membership.
