Fourteen Earn Nursing Degrees at LMU-Tampa
Fourteen degree candidates from the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Caylor School of Nursing (CSON) had degrees conferred during Fall Commencement Exercises at the LMU-Tampa learning site on Wednesday, December 18.
LMU President Clayton Hess joined Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay Stubblefield, Vice President and CSON Dean Mary Anne Modrcin and CSON faculty in celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2019. Dr. Robin McGuinness, AdventHealth senior executive officer, gave the commencement address.
“Be the nurse that you would want to have if you were a patient,” McGuinness told the graduates. “People connect with nurses and they trust us to do the right thing. Being a nurse becomes who you are, not what you do.”
Torriah Bell (Tampa, Florida), received an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree while Anthony Antonelli (Palm Harbor, Florida), James Brevil (Tampa, Florida), Cameron Clearwaters (Tampa, Florida), Megan-Joy Daorerk (Tampa, Florida), Carrie Marden (Orlando, Florida), Sacia Mullin (Ruskin, Florida), Christiann Oosthuizen (Tampa, Florida), Amina Rahmat (Tampa, Florida), Mary Reule (Tampa, Florida), Raquel Reyes (Seffner, Florida), Ryan Scott (Tampa, Florida), Sydney Streibel (Tampa, Florida) and Ashley Tran (Tampa, Florida) all received Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees.
The LMU National Alumni Association hosted a reception for graduates and their families following the ceremony. Senior Director of Alumni Services Sheliah Cosby and Vice President for University Advancement Cynthia Whitt traveled from the main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee, to welcome the newest alumni.
LMU and AdventHealth (formerly Florida Hospital) partnered to create an off-campus site for the CSON in Tampa, Florida. The partnership aims to establish a synergy for continuous quality improvement in both education and the practice of nursing by preparing caring, compassionate and competent nurses. Located at AdventHealth Tampa’s Health Park facility, LMU-Tampa offers accelerated undergraduate nursing degree programs including the ASN and BSN. Both programs boast a 100% NCLEX pass rate.
