JFWA Faculty Friday Profile: Summer Wynn
HARROGATE, Tennessee, February 5, 2021— J. Frank White Academy (JFWA) third-grade teacher Summer Wynn is in her second year at the Academy.
I got my undergraduate and masters degrees from Virginia Tech. I've taught in Raleigh, North Carolina; Blacksburg, Virginia, and Alexandria, Virginia. I have taught first and third grade and student-taught in second grade.
I adore working with children and I love how every day has structure and routine but is also unexpected and exciting. I love to watch my students grow and learn and share who they are with me. I think of our class as a family unit and emphasize how we work as a team to accomplish our goals together. I like us to be hard working and focused but to have fun and enjoy our time together.
My favorite teacher was my second and third grade teacher, Miss Janet, who is Welsh and wonderful. She inspired me to be a teacher early on. She was a warm, loving, fun, and engaging teacher who made each student feel special and valued.
My dream at this point in my life is to travel as much as I can squeeze in. The older I get, the more interesting the world becomes, and I want to see and learn about as many places as I can.
