Who We Are The International Student Union (ISU) is a social organization for all LMU students. The purpose of ISU is to foster understanding and friendship among all students of all nations represented at LMU. This purpose is fulfilled with bi-weekly meetings, weekend trips, camping, shopping, and participating in community events. This informal group has no club dues. Funds for activities are raised through activities such as car washes, bake sales, and raffles. The organization conducts all its business in English, although some other languages may sometimes be heard. Benefits of ISU The benefits of ISU membership are numerous. International students are far from home and friends, they wish to make friends in America and on campus of LMU. American students, through ISU, can assist our international students by offering friendships, speaking English, and sharing cultural experiences. Good friends can be made at the International Student Union. Another benefit of the ISU is learning about other cultures, and how to better to learn about other cultures than from students that live that culture. All ISU students can compare and contrast the cultures of their countries, thus strengthening their abilities to communicate with all people in peace and harmony. The ISU helps us to see ourselves as world citizens.
