Application Procedures
The Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) Dental Hygiene Program admits a new cohort of thirty students each Fall Semester ONLY. The Dental Hygiene program will begin each August, with the application deadline of March 15 each year.
The first step is to apply to Lincoln Memorial University at Lincoln Memorial University Online Application - Lincoln Memorial University (lmunet.edu). LMU CDM Dental Hygiene Programs accepts transferable prerequisites from outside institutions. For acceptable transfer equivalences from local/surrounding institutions please visit Transfer Equivalencies. All other transfer courses must be approved by the admissions office at admissions@lmunet.edu. Please have all your official transcripts sent electronically directly to: LMU Undergraduate Admissions Offices: admissions@lmunet.edu. All transcripts must come directly from the institution via the National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, etc.

Once you have been successfully admitted into Lincoln Memorial University as a student, please note, that acceptance into this does not guarantee acceptance into the LMU CDM Dental Hygiene Program.
To be admitted into the DH program at Lincoln Memorial University, you must apply through both the LMU portal and the ADEA DHCAS application portal. To be considered for entry into the program, you must complete both applications. The ADEA DHCAS portal opens for LMU Dental Hygiene program on October 24, 2024, and ends March 15th, 2025, for the Fall 2025 semester.
From the ADEA DHCAS portal, all applicants should submit:
1. Observation log for a minimum of sixteen hours shadowing a dental hygienist
2. 250-word essay -“Why you want to become a dental hygienist”?
3. Two letters of reference (from non-relatives) attesting to community service, leadership ability, character, and other skills. Once you save an electronic document, an email will automatically be sent to the evaluator on the applicant's behalf. Please advise your evaluator to look for an in their inbox, as well as their spam or junk mail folder. Occasionally, notifications will be in the applicant’s spam or junk mail.
Entry into the Lincoln Memorial University Dental Hygiene Program
All applicants must, at a minimum:
Admissions criteria are weighted with an emphasis on academic performance), including science GPAs, non-science GPAs, cumulative GPAs, number of hours completed per semester or quarter, and institution(s) attended.
Direct Path after High School Entry ONLY
This pathway is appropriate for high school seniors ONLY applying to LMU who would like to complete their Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene in 3.0 years via the Associate Science Dental Hygiene (ASDH) degree path. These students must meet the following criteria for undergraduate admissions:
Required Entrance Test(s):
Either ACT or SAT to determine eligibility to take biology and chemistry courses. Students applying to the Dental Hygiene Program must possess an overall cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. Minimum GPA for each required course: A C+ is the minimum grade needed for all required courses. Minimum Score on Required Entrance Test(s): ACT of 22+
Students Must Satisfy the Following Requirements for Admissions:

During the Spring before the last semester of prerequisites, the student will apply to LMU-DHP through admission The student will be required to complete the supplemental application and meet for a second interview with the LMU-DHP admissions committee.
